Injection-Molded Plastic Gasket

An injection-moulded plastic gasket (sometimes just called molded plastic gaskets) is a gasket manufactured using injection moulding of a plastic (polymer) material, enabling complex geometry, repeatability, and integration of functional features.

Description

An injection-molded plastic gasket is a gasket that is manufactured via the injection molding process of a plastic (polymer) or plastic-composite material into a mold cavity (or as part of a molded assembly) so that the finished gasket comes out in the required shape (ring, profile, 3-D geometry) ready for use.

Due to the injection moulding method, these gaskets can have fairly complex geometries, tight tolerances, and integrated features (e.g., locating flanges, tabs, ribs), which may make them advantageous over simple cut-sheet or extruded gaskets for certain applications.

By application/geometry/installation type, mold-gasket types such as carrier style gaskets (plastic carrier + gasket material), pressed-in-place gaskets, etc. Thus, the classification might include:

Engineered plastic gasket (simple ring/profile)
Plastic carrier gasket (plastic body + sealing lip)
Overmoulded gasket (plastic part with integrated seal)
Pressed-in-place moulded plastic gasket (inserted into groove and compacted)

We can customise moulded gaskets in complex 3D shapes and sizes. Common plastic gasket materials include: ABS, Acetal (Delrin®), Acetate, Mylar® Polyester Film, PTFE, Nylon, LDPE, HDPE, HIPS, Kapton® Polyimide Film, Polycarbonate, Polypropylene, PEEK, PETG, PVC, UHMW, and sometimes combinations or fillers to achieve the required sealing/structural performance.
